Description

While earning this merit badge, Scouts will discover how land is measured and how it is described so that others can know where boundary lines are. They will have a chance to use some fine measuring instruments, apply advanced mathematics, operate computing equipment, and create a survey map.

Scouts need to survey as Baseball field (alternative a Soccer field).   The attached PDF walks them through 2, 3 and 4 requirements.  A compass, 100' tape measure, and cell phone are used to make measurements.  Recommended low cost (Walmart purchases) are called out in detail in the PDF.  Scouts need to read and study the Surveying Merit Badge pamphlet, fill out a worksheet, and make the required 5 point measurements.  The PDF details most details.  You Tube videos and other resources are called out in the requirements.
